市場(chǎng)上通用型EMF的性能有較大差別，有些精度高、功能多，有些精度低、功能簡(jiǎn)單。精度高的儀表基本誤差為（±0.5%～±1%）R，精度低的儀表則為（±1.5%～±2.5%）FS，兩者價(jià)格相差1～2倍。因此測(cè)量精度要求不很高的場(chǎng)所（例如非貿(mào)易核算僅以控制為目的，只要求高可靠性和優(yōu)良重復(fù)性的場(chǎng)所）選用高精度儀表在經(jīng)濟(jì)上是不合算的。
有些型號(hào)儀表聲稱有更高的精確度，基本誤差僅（±0.2%～±0.3%）R，但有嚴(yán)格的安裝要求和參比條件，例如環(huán)境溫度20～22℃，前后直管段長(zhǎng)度要求分別大10D和3D（通常為5D和2D），甚至提出流量傳感器要與前后直管組成一體在流量標(biāo)準(zhǔn)裝置上作實(shí)流校準(zhǔn)，以減少夾裝影響。因此在多種型號(hào)選擇比較時(shí)不要單純只看高指標(biāo)，要詳細(xì)閱讀制造廠樣本或說明書做綜合分析。
市場(chǎng)上EMF的功能差別也很大，簡(jiǎn)單的就只是測(cè)量單向流量，只輸出模擬信號(hào)帶動(dòng)后位儀表；多功能儀表有測(cè)雙向流、量程切換、上下限流量報(bào)警、空管和電源切斷報(bào)警、小信號(hào)切除、流量顯示和總量計(jì)算、自動(dòng)核對(duì)和故障自診斷、與上位機(jī)通信和運(yùn)動(dòng)組態(tài)等。有些型號(hào)儀表的串行數(shù)字通信功能可選多種通信接口和專用芯片（ASIC），以連接HART協(xié)議系統(tǒng)、PROFTBUS、Modbus、CONFIG、FF現(xiàn)場(chǎng)總線等。
