Jeremy 在現場演示了這么一個例子。許多美國人會使用一種衛(wèi)生紙，它的原材料是大樹，減少這種衛(wèi)生紙的使用就能少砍一些樹，這個道理大家都懂，但是沒用。如果讓一個人在虛擬現實里鋸掉一棵樹，看著這顆大樹轟然倒下，會有什么影響呢？現場有一位朋友演示了這個場景，他戴著 Oculus Rift，手中拿著手柄模擬鋸樹的動作，舞臺上的五塊大屏幕展現的就是他看到的虛擬森林，只一會兒，剛還鳥語花香的森林一角安靜了，那顆大樹靜靜的躺在地上，臺下的觀眾也莫名沉靜了一分，大家似乎都鋸掉了一棵樹。

　　虛擬現實的恐怖之處在于它創(chuàng)造了一種全新的媒介形式。這種媒介對人類有很強的影響力，曾經在這個位置上的，有語言，文字，書籍，電視電影，計算機和互聯網。每一種新媒介的誕生，都會改寫人類的狀態(tài)和走向。語言和文字讓人類能夠交流復雜的思想，書籍的普及讓知識不再是權貴的專屬，電視電影讓可視化的信息走進千家萬戶，中產階級有了生活的比照對象，計算機和互聯網讓計算和信息成為了人類發(fā)展的一股洪流。

　　虛擬現實帶給人類的，是一種以極低成本去體驗現實中可能或者不可能的經歷，而且這種體驗從視覺和聽覺兩方面看幾乎能以假亂真，碰巧視覺和聽覺正是人類主要的感知手段。在這個虛擬世界里的體驗，會向真實世界中我們經歷的事情一樣對主人公產生直達內心的影響。就像盜夢空間一樣，給他人的思想植入一些東西，這種力量是最可怕的。
